Application of Anthracite in Filters

Application of Anthracite in Filters

Application of Anthracite in Filters Anthracite is a high-quality filtration material widely used in water treatment and industrial filtration systems. Due to its high carbon content, low impurity level, and excellent mechanical strength, anthracite provides efficient filtration performance and long service life. In multi-media filters, anthracite is commonly used as the top filtration layer because of its larger particle size and lower density compared to sand. This structure allows suspended solids, sediments, and impurities to be trapped effectively while maintaining a high flow rate. Anthracite filter media offers excellent resistance to abrasion and chemical corrosion, making it suitable for municipal water treatment plants, industrial water purification systems, cooling water systems, and wastewater treatment facilities. Its porous structure helps improve filtration efficiency and reduces pressure loss across the filter bed. In addition, anthracite can withstand repeated backwashing processes without significant degradation, ensuring stable and reliable performance over time. The use of anthracite in filtration systems helps improve water clarity, extend the lifespan of downstream equipment, and reduce maintenance costs. As a cost-effective and durable filtration medium, anthracite remains a preferred choice for industries seeking high-performance filtration solutions and consistent water quality.

Removing water and particulate contamination is vital to the reliable operation of an engine. Even a small amount of contamination can cause severe damage to engine parts such injectors and pumps.

The Racor 2010 series filters are replacement filter elements for the model 500 turbine filter housings. Available in 2, 10 and 30 micron filtration the elements are colour-coded for easy identification. Each element utilises the Parker Racor filter media. This is a blend of high-grade cellulose with engineered fibres and a hydrophobic treatment to ensure that water is repelled from the filter element media and dropped into the collection bowl.
